Collection: CARDINAL SPIRIT

Inspired by the mural created for Santa Paula High School, Cardinal Spirit is a collection centered on identity, tradition, transformation, school and community pride.

For this series, David Flores reimagined the school’s historic “Joe Cardinal” mascot from its original 1950s sailor-era character into a powerful symbolic figure: a Native American dancer wearing a cardinal mask. The re-envisioned imagery connects the spirit of the mascot to themes of heritage, movement, resilience, and cultural continuity while honoring the land and communities that shape Santa Paula’s history.

The collection translates mural imagery into wearable pieces and collectible merchandise designed to carry the energy of the wall beyond the campus itself. Bold graphic forms, layered symbolism, and David Flores’ signature visual language transform school iconography into contemporary art-driven apparel.

Proceeds from every purchase go directly to the Art Department at Santa Paula High School.
